"Skate" nozīmes:
1. Slidot (ar slidām vai skeitu)
Piemēri:
- He loves to skate on the frozen lake in winter.
- They skate at the indoor rink every weekend.
2. Skrituļslidot (ar rievotiem riteņiem)
Piemēri:
- The children skate in the park with rollerblades.
- She learned to skate on quad skates.
3. Zivs – raja (jūras dzīvnieks)
Piemēri:
- We saw a skate gliding on the ocean floor.
- Skates are related to sharks and rays.
4. Pārlidojums/izvairīšanās (pārnestā nozīmē)
Piemēri:
- He tried to skate over the details of the problem.
- The politician skated around the difficult question.
Atšķirība no "ski":
- "Skate" – slidot uz šaura asmens (slidām) vai riteņiem (skrituļslidām).
- "Ski" – slēpot (ar divām garām slēpēm).
